2014 Harmonic Souls
2014 Harmonic Souls
I saw Robert Plant and Alison Krause in concert once. Individually Plant, being the rockstar of Led Zeppelin and Krause, the sweetheart of bluegrass, you wouldn’t think to pair the two but amazingly, together they were obviously designed to harmonize. Their voices melted into one another creating a heavenly sound. Sangiovese and Cabernet Sauvignon are on the stage now… individually, Cabernet is dark and complicated, while Sangiovese is bright and teasing yet together, another match-made-in-heaven; one lending the other flavors that are recreated into glorious explosions of toffee, black tea, dried plum, clay, raspberry and sage. The finish is like the final note of the melody, perfect unison, perfect harmony, fading ever-so-slowly away.

A little extra:
As you may well know, I don’t do traditional. My blends are always just off the path of normalcy and include grape varieties that aren’t always brothers or cousins. Grapes from different regions mixed together create unique, one-of-a-kind blends. These blends of mine are only made once. I’ve never repeated the same co-mingling of varieties, instead I create something different the next time around. Because of that, as rare as Turiya Wines already are, the rarity of each bottling, each blend, is literally headed toward extinction. Do not hesitate if you love any of the blends at Turiya, once they are gone, they are gone forever.
