With a careful winemaking process and proper aging, wines can last several years after it is released and continue to develop to the point of perfection. At Turiya, I keep a small amount of older vintage wines in the library to help with the assessment of the lifespan of the wine. This purposeful extended aging allows me to continue to bottle age these wines, tasting them during the process, and making valuable notes for future vintages. Then put her up to your nose… lush, enticing tones of caramel and coffee or is it cocoa and cranberry? Who is she? Who cares - you’re in love. The name ‘Shapeshifter’ is a really fun one, not only because it implies something dark and curious but because we can all relate to the transference of energy that occurs on a personal level each day. Wine is constantly going through the similar biological and physiological changes during it’s lifetime. One of the reasons I am enamored with wine is that it is a living thing.
This wine represents how far I have personally come since that broken heart that led me to a glass of wine that forever changed my life. My passion for the one who broke my heart shapeshifted and all that passionate energy was unleashed in the cellar.
