International Women’s Day has been celebrated on March 8th worldwide since 1909, with a focus on working women’s achievements and issues. In a working environment which sees about 10% of the global wine industry as female lead winemakers, Karen Steinwachs, co-founder of the annual Women Winemakers Celebration, said, “Santa Barbara County sees a much higher percentage of women winemakers than most regions in the world – with nearly double the average. We work hard, but also like to play hard and give back to the community, so are thrilled to continue to celebrate our industry and region at this annual celebration.”

The four-day celebration will bring together a varied sampling of the County’s female winemakers in a show of support for each other, and other working women, world-wide; those who toil and labor while honing and elevating their craft in their workplace, while also balancing work-lives with family and community service.

Since the very early days of the Women Winemakers Celebration, the winemakers have been joined by our colleagues in the culinary world.  An old saying in our parts is that “wine is food to be consumed with food”, and indeed we are of one voice that the vino is always better and enhanced with something tasty from a kitchen. Our annual celebration features chefs and cooks, restaurants, specialty food purveyors, bakers, caterers, cheesemongers, pastry chefs, gourmet product producers, chocolatiers and more. Each year they seem to outdo each other and truly do elevate this event, all in the spirit of International Women’s Day, the camaraderie of fellow ladies in the food and wine industry and support of the designated charitable organization of the year.

Chef Brooke, co-founder of our annual celebration, suggested we add “Culinarians” to our event title and so it is!  Saluté!

The casitas and barn and lawns of 27 Vines will be filled with dozens of women winemakers and their lady culinary colleagues, fronted by the just awakening vines of this boutique vineyard. You’ll taste with the winemakers, chefs and specialty food purveyors themselves as they talk to you about their passion for crafting deliciousness from the bounty of Santa Barbara County.

Wine tasting, auction and sale of fines wines from more than 40 wineries. Sip, swirl, buy wine, taste delicious hot and cold hors d'oeuvres and bid on auction items while listening to music.

Join Turiya at this years Dignatarios event at the Santa Barbara Zoo. DIGS is the wildest party of Fiesta week and includes the infamous “DIGS” margaritas, cold beer, tasty regional wines, and delicious food from local restaurants.

Buellton Wine and Chili Festival 2023!


The Buellton Wine and Chili Festival is back at Flying Flags RV Resort in beautiful Buellton on Sunday, March 19th from 12 - 4:30 p.m.! 

You get to sample from 30+ wineries, craft breweries, seltzers, ciders and spirit companies AND you also get to sample chili and salsa from over 20 cooks! 

There will also be a wide variety of merchant and food vendors on site! Live entertainment by Ghost Monster, the Text Pistols, DJ FIU! Plenty lawn games including corn hole and bocce ball!

If you are a local, (and even if you are not), you won't want to miss the Rotary Club of Lompoc's annual wine tasting and auction Sunday February 27, 2022 1:00 PM to 4:00 PM at the Lompoc Veterans Memorial Building.  This event raises money for the community of Lompoc and features our passionate cast of winemakers and their locally produced wines.

Hey all ~ I am pretty excited to share a vineyard walk and tour with you!

We all share the common interest of enjoying and learning about wine. I love to continue to educate myself and want to invite you along with me for an adventurous day of getting into the vineyard and learning some of the techniques used to grow the delicious grapes that go into Turiya Wines (among others). Interested? Be sure to sign up ASAP! This adventure is limited to 9 guests.
